A Word To The Wise...

According to the BBC, The Greek media enjoy considerable freedom, although editors and publishers risk prosecution over material deemed offensive to the president or religious beliefs.(Emphasis added). However, the article is unclear whether this applies to all or any religious beliefs, or only those of the lunatics who call themselves the Orthodox Church, LOL!

Greece has not separated church and state. 98% of ethnic Greeks are registered as Greek Orthodox. Their "religion" though strangely ritualistic rather than superstitiously "meaningful" appears to act as a force to cohere their families and their society.

It is worth noting that Greece is anomalous in that it seems to have skipped the cultural changes that industrialization brought to the west and has deep roots in an agrarian recent past.

A conundrum, the Greeks.

A conundrum indeed, bearing in mind the huge contribution the Ancients made to world civilisation but their descendants near zilch.
